Bikram Yoga
Beginners series
Bikram yoga is a series of 26 hatha yoga postures and two breathing exercises practiced in 90 minutes. Heat is added to increase the therapeutic benefits and soften the body, allowing you to stretch more effectively without the risk of injury.
At the end of 90 minutes you have systematically worked every muscle, ligament, joint, tendon, gland and internal organ. You will have moved fresh, oxygenated blood to 100% of your body, restoring health to all systems. A regular practice delivers so many benefits.
It will improve:
- Fitness, strength, flexibility and balance
- Mental clarity and wellbeing
- Concentration, determination and patience
- Circulation
- Cardiovascular health
- Response to stressful situations
- Blood pressure
- Arthritic pain and joint stiffness
- Lung capacity and respiratory conditions
- Immune system
- Skin condition
- Sleep quality
- Digestive and elimination function
- Strength and tone of muscles
It’s designed for everybody, regardless of age, fitness level, illness or injury.
Pregnancy series
A yoga practice is a wonderful way to prepare for birth and motherhood. We encourage you to maintain your practice during pregnancy.
We require you to have:
- Maintained a regular practice for 6 months prior to pregnancy
- Completed your first trimester
- Your doctor’s clearance
Rajashree’s Pregnancy Yoga is a gentle series, which adapts with your changing body throughout pregnancy. When you are ready, make a time for a complimentary private session to run through the pregnancy modifications with an experienced instructor.
Once you are familiar with these modifications you are welcome to practice any class on the schedule.
Children
Between the ages of 8-12 years children can practice the floor series, with a parent or guardian accompanying them in class. We have space outside the yoga room where they can wait for the first 45 minutes of class before they join in.
From 12 – 16 years they can join in the entire series. Please get in touch with us to discuss this before bringing your child along to class.
